5th Grade State Report Guidelines

Mrs. McShinsky’s State Report
You will create a book of your state. This will include a one-page combination of text and pictures for each letter of the alphabet. Please use the following guidelines for each page. Each page needs to have complete sentences. Bullets maybe used.


A Animals (The official state mammals and fish, or if your state does not hove one, some of the animals that are native to your state.
B Bird (state- your state may have more than one.)
C Crops
D Draw a map of your state and color it in with colored pencils with points of interest, capital, major cities, and rivers. Label in small capital letters.
E Entertainment (things to do and see- attractions)
F Flag (state)
G Government
H Historical events (wars, discoveries, etc) Famous Americans
I Indian Groups who made your state their home
J Jobs
K Kinds of food that are representational of your state
L Landmarks (monuments, forts, historic buildings, etc.)
M Motto of your state
N Natural Resources
O Origin of Your State (for example: Original English Colony, land gained after the French-Indian War, Louisiana Purchase, Oregon Territory, Spanish Colony.)
P Population
Q Quotes
R Rivers and Lakes
S State Flower
T Tree (state)
U Underground and other transportation systems
V Vacation Spots
W Weather and Climate
X Extra- Choose an interesting fact about your state.
Y Year your state achieved statehood and any interesting related facts involving their statehood
Z Zone (Time zone)…what the difference from Utah.

Bibliography: A bibliography is a list of resources you used to write your report (books, magazines, encyclopedias, brochures, and websites).
